Zenobia Bowman - Biography

Born 1948, Graduated 1966 Warren Central HS Indianapolis, Ind. Married in 1966,  3 children,  7-grandchildren, traveled USA and settled in Alaska in 1982.

I was named after my moms best friend in Texas, Zenobia King,  thank you mom for that.  As a small child if I didn't have paper to draw on I would take a leaf off a tree and draw it, I have always love it. I went on television the first time as a 2nd grader for a horse farm display of color paper, then again in fourth grade for soap display.  In high school I majored in Art, helping the art department with back drop paintings for Christmas and other events throughout the year.  After graduating, getting married love of my life, raising our three wonderful children (now adults and family's of there own)  with my wonderful supportive husband of 57 years, whom I lost last year but I can still feel him looking over my shoulder.  I am finding the time to paint more and more. Living in Alaska is a true inspiration for all artist, but it really doesn't matter, where you live you can find beauty anywhere, you just have to look.  I have had the opportunity over the years to pick up a class or two on watercolors and oils which I find very helpful, since I really had no formal training other that what I picked up in high school from a very wonderful teacher for those years.  So its been mostly self taught, however keeping an open mind for new things to try.  One of the things I like to do when walking with my grandchildren is to point out things, veins on the leaves of trees, how the light hits the side of a chair or lay on the ground and look at the clouds to find things there too.  Driving down the road where ever it might be to point out hidden items in the distance like faces on the mountains.  Stop and smell though flowers  make  the time to slow down.  Life goes by way to fast not to stop and look smell and hear nature at its best.  I enjoy my artwork,  it also shows my life and where I go.

I always look forward to taking that next photo shot or starting the next painting!
